Welcome to Orca’s Pod, a community arts hub based in Gibsons, British Columbia
Our Story
Welcome to Orca’s Pod, a community arts hub based in Gibsons, British Columbia, in traditional sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of the Salish Sea.
Conceived in early 2020 by a family of multidisciplinary artists Jody Franklin, Andrea Coates, and their 6-year old son Orca, for whom the concept is named, Orca’s Pod was set to open as an art gallery, studio, workshop space & micro-library for artists, artisans
& other local visionaries in downtown Gibsons. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, the Orca’s Pod concept had to be re-visioned (for the time being) situated primarily in the worldwide digital environment. Orca’s pod will be focused in the near future on creating content & supporting creators through the publication & distribution of small press books & zines, production of podcasts & webinar workshops.
As of July 1st, we have opened an art gallery at 14-292 Gower Point Road in Gibsons! Stop by for a visit! More to come soon. In the meantime, follow us on Instagram.
